Dennis M. Palmer

Dennis M. Palmer, 78, of Sherman, passed away on October 10, 2023 at The Villas Senior Care. He was born on March 22, 1945 in Flint, Michigan to William R. Palmer and Elizabeth Bartels. Dennis is survived by his wife Joanne Glettler whom he married in Altus, Oklahoma in 1978.

Mr. Palmer is survived by his children: Lauren Page of Sherman, Wendy Fletcher of Sandy, UT, Carrie Palmer of Kansas City, Kansas, Dennis Palmer II Wesley Palmer of Oklahoma, ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Dennis worked as a patrol officer in Oklahoma before starting a very long career in sales. His sales career included furniture, STP Oil, and Bankers Life Insurance. In addition, he had a prosperous career in fiber optics as the new technology was first being developed. Dennis and Joanne were very active in politics in Leelanau County Michigan. Dennis was Dick Cheney’s driver and body guard for the Bush/Cheney rally in Michigan. He was a cowboy at heart who enjoyed bull riding, fishing, auto racing and the outdoors.

The family will greet friends from 10:00am until 11:00am on Monday October 16, 2023 at Bisch and Son Funeral Home, 505 East Allen Street. At the conclusion of the visitation there will be a procession to Oak Ridge Cemetery for a graveside service. Memorial contributions may be made to Villa Health Care Center West, Alzheimer’s Association or to Saint John Vianney Catholic Church in Sherman.
