Dolores Mae Thrawl

She was born in Mansfield, OH, August 3, 1927 the daughter of Cameron and Stella Sutton Thrawl. A graduate of Lanphier High School, she went on to study and graduate from the Ohio State University with a major in journalism.

Dee began her career with the Illinois State Journal-Register and became a feature editor. She then worked for the State of Illinois in the Illinois Information Bureau and was responsible for speech writing for a number of Governors and other elected officials. She concluded her career in the same capacity with the Department of Children and Family Services.

Dee was a longtime member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church LCMS and longtime member of the Capitol Canine Club. She was proud of her champion show dogs. She had been active in several sports including bowling, softball and golf.

Dee is survived by several cousins; Marilyn (Robert) Kyes, Samuel R. Sutton and Douglas Sutton Sr, all of Springfield, Mildred Seenan of Wenatchee, WA, Wanda Mann of Corona, CA and Virginia Satterlee of Champaign, IL.

Funeral services will be held Friday, April 4, 2014 in the Chapel of Concordia Village 4101 W. Iles, Springfield, at 11:00 am. Chaplain Chris Nilges will officiate. Visitation will be 1 hour prior there.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Concordia Village Scholarship Fund or the Capitol Canine Club.
