Domenic J. Giacomini

Domenic J. Giacomini, 92, of Springfield passed away at 1:55 am, Wednesday, May 30, 2001 at his son's residence. Domenic was born April 1, 1909 the son of Costantino and Caterina Temperelli Giacomini in Springfield. He married Rose Mary Scaduto in November 1932. Mr. Giacomini had attended Springfield High School and Brown's Business College. He had been employed as a shoemaker at International Shoe Company. He was also employed by the Illinois Secretary of State's office-at the Klein Street Greenhouse , where Mr. Giacomini used his love of gardening and plants to help nurture and grow plants utilized by the many State of Illinois offices. It was because of these skills that he was hired by the Springfield Park District, where he helped to beautify the city parks. He was also the owner of Giacomini Parking at First and Mason Street. He was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church. Mr. Giacomini also was a connoisseur of Italian foods. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters: Linda Gent and Selina Bedolli; one son: Paul J. Giacomini in 1960 and one daughter: Patricia Mary Caterina Giacomini in 1941. He is survived by his wife Rose Mary Giacomini of Springfield; one son: Dominic C. (wife, Patricia Alice Dalsin) Giacomini of Springfield; two sisters: Lena (husband, Roy) Ostenburg of Springfield, Helen Giacomini of Springfield; one brother Merino Giacomini of Florida; three grandsons: Patrick J. (wife, Debbie) Giacomini, Thomas P. (wife, Erin) Giacomini, Nicholas W. (wife, Danielle) Giacomini; four granddaughters: Christine (husband, Steve) McClimens, Michelle (husband, Greg) Williamson, Lisa (husband, Jim) Fay, Angela (husband, Mike) Walsh; nineteen great grandchildren: Hannah, Sarah, Amy, Connor, Sean, Bailey, Kiera, Isabella and Nico Giacomini, Dominic McClimens, Nicholas, Eric, Ryan and Benjamin Williamson; Austin and Riley Fay, Ellen, Andrew and Zachary Walsh and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 South 6th Street in Springfield, from 5-8:00 p.m. on Friday June 1st, 2001. There will be a prayer service at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Concelebrated Funeral Mass with Very Reverend Patrick Wright V.F and Reverend Robert Becker will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 2, 2001 at St. Agnes Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
