He was born on November 5, 1932 in Harriman, TN, the son of the late Nick and Ella (Shipwash) Harmon. He married Agnes Lashlee on Nov. 4, 1961 in Nashville, TN and she survives.
Don worked as a senior materials engineer and physicist for the Nuclear Regulatory Commission for 38 years, retiring in 1995. He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. Don was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Besides his wife Agnes, he is survived by his daughter Diane Harris of Dickson, TN; his son Michaael Harmon of Springfield; 8 grandchildren, Ernie, Lashlee, David, Brian, Heather, Jonathon, Matthew, and Andrew; and several great-grandchildren,
Arrangements are under the direction of Bisch Funeral Home West, 2931 S. Koke Mill Rd., Springfield. Per his wishes, cremation rites were accorded. No services are scheduled at this time,
Memorials may be made to the Central Illinois Food Bank or to Westminster Presbyterian Church.
