

Donald Bryant, 74, of Springfield, died on Friday, January 27, 2006 at St. John's Hospital. Donald was born November 17, 1931 in Springfield, the son of George J. and Lyda Fulgenzi Bryant. He married Florence Gedaminski in 1952 in Springfield. Mr. Bryant owned and operated Bryant Excavating for 45 years until his retirement in 1998. He was a graduate of Blessed Sacrament Elementary School and Cathedral Boys High School where he was vice president of his class and organized the reunions. Donald attended Western Illinois University for two years and the University of Chattanooga on a football scholarship. He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: George Richard Bryant and Charles M. Bryant. He is survived by his wife: Florence Bryant of Springfield; one son: Donald V. Bryant of Springfield; three daughters: Karen (husband, Tony) DeFrates of Springfield, Cheryl (husband, Bogie) Bovee of Carbondale and Rosie Bryant Fore of Springfield; four grandchildren: Andrea and Gabriel DeFrates, and Travis and Whitney Bovee; two sisters: Rosalie (husband, Harold) Burns of Normal and Helen Coontz of Springfield; and several nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Monday, January 30, 2006 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Visitation will begin with a Prayer Service at 5:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 31, 2006 at Christ the King Catholic Church, 1930 Barberry, Springfield with Msgr. David S. Lantz principle celebrant and Fr. Samuel Kothapalli concelebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemtery. Memorial contributions may be made to Donald’s grandchildrens’ college funds at Marine Bank, C/O Karen DeFrates, 3050 Wabash Ave., Springfield, IL 62704.
