Donald K. Evans

Donald K. Evans, 73, of Springfield, passed away Thursday Jan. 23, 2014 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.

He was born in Bedford, IL April 19, 1940 the son of Oscar S. and Marguerite Walk Evans. He married Ruth Ann Niffen, June 12, 1964 and she survives.

He is also survived by his children; Donald (wife Veronica) Evans of Rio Rico, AZ, Dennis Evans of Live Oak, FL, and Kathy Jo (husband Brent) Radtke of Springfield, IL. He has 7 grandchildren; Alex (husband Travis) Pocklington, Brittany Evans, Courtney Evans, Drake Evans, Cheyenne Radtke-Dunn, Hayden and Rylan Radtke, 1 great grandson Colton Pocklington, 2 brothers and 3 sisters. There are several nieces, nephews and cousins.

His parents and a sister preceded him in death.

Don served his country in the United States Army. He then served in the Illinois National Guard and worked as a security guard at Camp Lincoln until his retirement in 2000. He was a member of the 3637th Maintenance Company at the Illinois National Guard.

Arrangements are under the direction of Bisch and Son Funeral Home 505 E. Allen where the family will receive friends from 11:00 am Tuesday Jan. 28, 2014 until time of services there at 12:00 noon. Rev. Dr. Thomas G. Radtke will officiate. Burial with full military honors will follow in Camp Butler National Cemetery.
