

He was born on June 9, 1937, in Chicago, IL, the son of Donald Shores Funk and Mary Douglas (Hay) Funk. Donald married Deanna Faye Dean on December 22, 1962, in Lakewood, OH.
He is survived by his wife, Deanna; his daughter, Anne Funk of Springfield, IL; his son, Donald (Layna) Funk of Plainfield, IL; and two granddaughters, Ayden and Ella Funk.
Donald was a graduate of the Lawrenceville School, Northwestern University, and Northwestern University School of Law. He served in the IL National Guard reserves and also was a Navy JAG officer.
Donald had a distinguished career in the legal profession, practicing law in Illinois from 1962 to 2014. He also served on the IL Supreme Court Board of Admissions to the Bar from 1981 to 2014, serving as Secretary-Treasurer from 1984 to 2014. Donald was a Trustee and former President of the National Conference of Bar Examiners.
He was a lifelong Springfield resident who was active in a variety of organizations including serving as a board member of the Abraham Lincoln Association.
Donald was an avid Chicago Cubs and St. Louis Blues fan and after many decades of heartbreak, was happy to see both win championships.
