Donald William Hopper

Don was born in Shreveport, LA on October 15, 1940, the son of William and Jeannie (Vines) Hopper. His parents, a sister, Jan Quinn, a great grandson, River Neal and a son-in-law, Tommy Norman, all preceded him in death.

Don enlisted in the United States Marine Corp August 18, 1963, achieving the rank of Sergeant and honorably discharged August 18, 1969. He earned the national Defense Service Medal, Rifle Marksman Badge, Good Conduct Medal w 2 Stars, Pistol Sharpshooters Badge, and the Vietnam Service Medal.

Don retired from the State of Illinois Apelet Defenders Office where he served as an investigator. He continued private practice for several years.

He married Mary Ushman and she survives. Also surviving are his daughter, Cheri Hopper of Springfield, Stepdaughter, Michelle Norman of Auburn, IL his grandchildren; Jessie Davis of Springfield, Michael Mosely of St. Louis, MO, Shaina Norman, Michaela Norman both of Springfield, and Bella Norman of Auburn, there are five great grandchildren and his best friend, Dean Paisley.

Cremation Rites will be accorded. No services are scheduled at this time.
