

Donald W. Kyle, age 77, of Springfield, died at 10:16 a.m. on Friday, January 31, 2003 at his residence. He was born April 29, 1925 in Elsworth, Illinois the son of Lloyd and Anna Breitswer Kyle. He married Eleanor M. Compton; they were later divorced. Mr. Kyle had been employed at Pillsbury and Giuffre Buick. He also had been employed as a salesman for Sears and Roebuck for 27 years, retiring in 1987. He served in the United States Navy during WWII, earning the Victory Medal, the American Area Campaign Medal and the Asiatic Pacific Area Campaign Medal. He was a member of American Legion Post #0032 for 12 years. Mr. Kyle was of the Methodist faith. He enjoyed golf and Indy car racing. Mr. Kyle was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: Vernon and Lloyal Kyle. He is survived by one daughter: Karrie A (husband, Robert) Kyle-Huberty of Aurora; one grandson: Justin Huberty of Aurora; two sisters: Virginia Gleeson, Lexington, IL and Darlene Rockford of Springfield; one brother: Archie Kyle of Joliet; three nieces; five nephews and several cousins. Friends may call at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, February 4, 2003. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 5, 2003 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home with Scott Brindley officiating. Burial will follow in Camp Butler National Cemetery. Memorial contributions will be put into a trust fund for his grandchildren’s education and may be made to the Donald Kyle Memorial Fund, c/o Old Second National Bank, 37 S.
