Donald Walter Shea

Donald W. Shea, 75, of Springfield, died at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, December 19, 2004 at St. John’s Hospital. Donald was born July 12, 1929 in Springfield, the son of Walter J. and Esther Schwartz Shea. He married Connie Neece on May 25, 1957 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Donald was a U.S. Army Veteran. He was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, past member of Knights of Columbus and a member of Kyies Thursday Chili Club. He was employed for forty-two years with telephone companies, retiring from AT & T on November 1, 1985 and Ameritech Systems on July 1, 1994. He was preceded in death by two grandsons: Alexander and Andrew Manning and his parents. He is survived by his wife: Connie Shea of Springfield; two sons: Tim (wife, Barb) and Mark (wife, Renate) Shea both of Springfield; two daughters: Ronda (husband, Greg) Zillner of Kansas City, MO and Kelly (husband, Mark) Manning of Nashville, TN; nine grandchildren: Bridgette, Todd, Travis, Erika Herrin Shea, Abby and Ben Manning, Zack and Chelsea Zillner and Jake Shea; one brother: Pat (wife, Judy) Shea of Springfield; one sister: Norma (husband, Richard) Michals of Chicago and several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will receive friends from 4 – 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 21, 2004 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at 9:00 a.m.Wednesday, December 22, 2004 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 245 N. Amos, Springfield with Rev. Robert Jallas celebrant. Burial will follow in Camp Butler National Cemetery where the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County will conduct military honors.
