

Doris Ann Savoie, 77, of Springfield, passed away at 12:24 p.m. on Monday, March 9, 2015 at Hickory Glen Senior Living. Doris was born April 12, 1937, in Harrisburg, IL, the daughter of Beatrice Fowler Steinmarch and Julius Steinmarch. She married Arthur Savoie in Bradley, IL on June 22, 1963. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Frank Steinmarch; and her infant brother, Larry Steinmarch. Doris graduated from Harrisburg High School and received her bachelor's degree in Education from Southern Illinois University. She is a member of Delta Zeta Sorority. She taught elementary education in Bradley, Urbana, and Springfield. She was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church where she served on the Spiritual Life Committee, the Right to Life Committee, and the Bereavement Ministry. Doris enjoyed work and had served as an officer in the Springfield Jayshees, the American Association of University Women and Springfield Right to Life. She also worked in the Mini O'Beirne Crisis Nursery and was a member of the Springfield Civic Garden Club and the St. Louise de Marillac Ladies of Charity. Doris enjoyed reading, painting, and gardening. She frequently mentioned how much she enjoyed sitting around the dining room table catching up on all the news from preschool to college to the senior center. Doris cherished the time she spent with family and friends. She is survived by her husband, Arthur Savoie of Springfield; one son, Mark (wife, Pamela) Savoie of Los Angeles, CA; one daughter, Susan (husband, Jon) Cagle of Springfield; one sister, Ruth (husband, Doug) Cox; grandchildren, Michael and Katie Cagle; nephew, Justin Steinmarch; nieces, Leslie Steinmarch and Michelle Kane; and two great-nephews, Andrew and Steven Kane. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 12, 2015 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Funeral Mass: 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 13, 2015 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 245 N. Amos, Springfield, with Rev. Robert J. Jallas celebrant. Burial will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at Assumption Catholic Cemetery in Ashkum, IL.
