Doris Ann Smith

Doris Ann Smith, 67, of Springfield, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at her home. Doris was born on August 1, 1941 in Morrisonville, the daughter of Charles and Loretta Walker Wade. She married Anthony M. Smith on August 19, 1962 in Springfield. He preceded her in death in 2008 For over twenty years, Doris worked by her husband's side as owners of the Sunoco station on North Grand. Most recently, Doris was a dedicated homemaker. She enjoyed gambling and playing BINGO in her free time. Also preceding Doris in death are her parents; sons Andrew "Andy" Smith and Anthony Smith, Jr.; and grandson Joseph A. Smith II. She is survived by her four sons, Joseph A. of Athens, Charles B. of Springfield, Gary R. (wife, Shannon) of Springfield, and Michael A. Smith of Springfield; daughter, Alice Kelly of Springfield; fourteen grandchildren A.J., Jennifer, Tony, Sean, Megan, Brian Jr., Joshua, Benjamin, Shelby, Katelyn, Kassidy, Savannah, Hailey, and Kyle; seven great-grandchildren; and brothers, Harold of Bloomington and John Wade of Edenburg. Family will receive friends from 1:30 until the time of funeral ceremonies at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, March 13, 2009 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield with Rev. Clint Cook officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905.
