

Doris Aline Stevens, 95, of Springfield, passed away Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at Aperion Care of Jacksonville. She was born July 13, 1922 in Loami to Edward and Alma Schlicht German. Doris provided care for her mother before she died in 1987. She married Howard Stevens in St. Charles, MO on September 20, 1940; he preceded her in death December 1, 2005, after 65 years of marriage. Her sister, Dorothy McAuley also preceded in death. She farmed and served as bookkeeper, with her husband in Curran Township and Loami areas; she was a member of Sangamon County Farm Bureau. After retiring from farming, she and her husband enjoyed travelling, even visiting her grandson in Germany, where he was stationed while in the Army. Doris also was a beautician in Springfield, for several years. She was a member of the Loami Methodist Church and was a Willing Worker at Wesley United Methodist Church. She loved to bowl in Chatham and Loami. She will be greatly missed by her daughter Gloria Creasey; grandson Dean (Jeris) Creasey; great grandchildren, Connor Steven Creasey and Darby Elizabeth Creasey all of Springfield; several nieces and nephews. Cremation rites will be accorded by Cremation Services of Central Illinois in Chatham before services. Graveside Services will be held 9am, Friday October 20, 2017, at Chatham Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Don Peck officiating.
