

Dorothy Rose Capranica, 74, of Springfield, died at 2:40 p.m. Wednesday, March 10, 2004 at St. John’s Hospice. Dorothy was born November 13, 1929 in Springfield the daughter of Anthony and Barbara Petreikis. She married Gilbert Capranica September 17, 1949 at St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church. Mrs. Capranica, a graduate of Lanphier High school, was a homemaker and a member of the Lithuanina-American Club. She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Gilbert John “Gil” Capranica, seven brothers and sisters. She is survived by her husband: Gilbert of Springfield; one son: Greg (wife, Judy) Capranica of Alpharetta, GA, twin daughters: Marilyn Capranica of Springfield, Carolyn Capranica of Chicago; five grandchildren: Briana, Damon, Tracey, Gregory and John Capranica; special great niece Christina Schuck and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Family will receive friends from 4-7:00 p.m. Sunday, March 14, 2004 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 15, 2004 at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, 1020 N. Milton, Springfield, IL with Rev. Rodney Schwartz celebrant. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, 1020 N.
