Dorothy was born on May 13, 1924, in Allamakee County, IA, the daughter of Ernest Hampton and Velva Rose Stafford. She married Benjamin Dorkins on January 31, 1943; he preceded her in death on February 2, 2004.
Dorothy had a strong character and loved her grandchildren and family. She was a member of Laurel United Methodist Church.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and sister, Leone Hegeman.
She is survived by her sons, Glenn (wife, Terry) Dorkins of Buda, TX and Paul Dorkins of Springfield; grandchildren, Meggan (husband James) Webber and Evan Dorkins, both of Austin, TX; and great-grandchildren, Ava and Matthew Webber.
Cremation was accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center.
Memorial Ceremony: 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 18, 2018, at Laurel United Methodist Church, 631 South Grand Avenue West, Springfield with Rev. Dr. Kent Lolling officiating.
Private burial will be held at Camp Butler National Cemetery at a later date.
