Dorothy Louise Guomas, 85, of Sherman, formerly of Chatham, passed away Friday, May 30, 2014. She was born December 1, 1928, in Boonville, MO to the late Lawrence Bernard and Agnes Elizabeth Douglas Brandes. She was preceded in death by her son and daughter in law, Daniel and Judy Pierce, brothers, John, Peter, and Melvin, and husbands, Everett Pierce and Ernest Guomas. Mrs. Guomas owned and operated several beauty salons in Carmel and Whittier, California, before moving to Illinois to be near her family. She will be greatly missed by her son, Michael (Tina) Pierce of Springfield; daughter, Nancy (Jody) Tetu of Lake Nacamento, CA; grandchildren, Daniel, Tina, Tonya, Christine, Michael, Marshall, Matt, and Macy; several great grandchildren; sisters, Margaret (Roy) Hedding of Lebanon, Mo and Evelyn Hadley of Liberty, MO; brother, Butch (Shirley) Brandes of Kansas City, MO. Cremation Rites will be accorded by Cremation Services of Central Illinois, Chatham. Services will be held at a later date.
