Dorothy M. McCreight

Dorothy was born March 26, 1926 in Aledo, IL, the daughter of Fred M. and Neva Perkins Palmer. She married Everett C. McCreight on November 1, 1947 in Aledo. He preceded her in death on September 17, 1995.

Dorothy was employed at Berean Book Store in Springfield for many years. She was a member of Berean Baptist Church. Dorothy was a wonderful wife and mother who loved to joke around and seemed never to have met a stranger.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; son, Barry C. McCreight on February 17, 1950; and brother, Bert Palmer.

She is survived by her son, Jeff (wife, Judy) McCreight of Springfield; two grandchildren, Ryan and Kate McCreight; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Family will receive friends from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 8, 2009 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield.

An additional visitation will be held from 12:00 until the time of ceremonies at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home with Rev. Richard R. Alhgrim officiating.

Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
