

Dorothy G. Winhold, 86, of Springfield, passed away peacefully, Saturday, June 16, 2012, with her loving family by her side. Dorothy was born on April 8, 1926, in Clearlake Township outside of Riverton, the daughter of John and Bessie (Saville) Wright. She married Lloyd Winhold on April 12, 1947, in Springfield, IL. They were blessed with 65 years of marriage and 5 children. She graduated from Brown Business School. Dorothy worked for C.I.P.S. for 2 years. Later she went on to work for Dist. #186 School Board for 13 years until she retired in 1988. Dorothy was a member of AFSCME #31, and an active member of Kumler United Methodist Church, participating in the youth ministry, singing in the choir, and as a Sunday School Teacher. She also helped with tutoring at the Lawrence Adult Education Center. Dorothy enjoyed being with her family taking an interest in all of her children’s activities, and later spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her loving husband Lloyd, her 5 children; Evelyn (Eric) Ehrig of Chandler, AZ, Kenneth (Letitia) Winhold of Springfield, Larry (Carole-Lee) Winhold of Mesa, AZ, Curtis (Kathleen) Winhold of Rochester, IL, James (Joan) Winhold of Pleasant Plains, 12 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, a sister Helen Wright, a brother John S. Wright and sister Lucille Solomon. A visitation will be held on Monday, June 18, from 4-7 pm at Bisch & Son Funeral Home, 505 E Allen St Springfield IL 62703. Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, June 19, at 10 am at the funeral home with Rev. Josh Bennett of South Fork Church of Christ. Burial will follow the services at Roselawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers memorials in her name may be made to Kumler United Methodist Church, Springfield, IL or to South Fork Church of Christ, Rochester, IL.
