

Duane was born on September 15, 1932, in Springfield, the son of Homer Timothy and Mildred Reynolds Dodd. He married Phyllis Headrick (née Harman) on June 10, 1977, in Springfield.
Duane attended Lanphier High School. He served his country in the United States Army from 1952-1953. Duane was a life-long painting contractor, worked as Security at the IL State Capitol, later retiring from the State power plant. He held memberships with the VFW #755, Chatham Central Masonic Lodge #523, Springfield Consistory, and Ansar Shrine-Cookie Unit. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and traveling, especially to Alaska and their Florida home.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Arlo and Warren “Buddy” Dodd; and sister, Donna
Yates.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis; children, Judy (husband, Buck) Johnson of Springfield, Kevin (wife, Susan) Dodd of Riverton, Tamie (husband, Mike) Esela of Springfield, Debbie (husband, Terry) Knox of New Berlin, Diana (husband, Larry) Massey of Springfield, and Denise (husband, Darrell) Maxheimer of Rochester; ten grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; three siblings, Sharon VanDyke and Marlene Carraro, both of Springfield and Marsha Dodd of Metamora; brother-in-law, Larry Harman of Springfield; sister-in-law, Ruby Dodd of Fort Collins, CO; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 15, 2022, at Butler Funeral Home-Springfield, 900 S. Sixth St., Springfield.
Funeral Ceremony: 10:30 a.m. on Friday, December 16, 2022, at Butler Funeral Home-Springfield with Celebrant Judy Woerner officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery with military honors.
