

Dwight was born on May 14, 1934 in Cheyenne, OK, the son of Louis and Ora (Hunter) Morrison. He married Barbara Nell Bainum on August 16, 1959 in Wichita, KS.
Dwight and Barbara moved to the Springfield area in 1961 where he taught in District 186 for 28 years. He previously taught in Kansas for two years. They also established Morrison’s Hilltop Orchard and Greenhouses on the east side of Chatham. Dwight was an active member of Cherry Hills Baptist Church in Springfield where he served on the Missionary Board for many years. He was also active in the Gideons and was a Ball Township official.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Dwight is survived by his wife, Barbara (Bainum) Morrison; children, Laura Morrison of Chatham, Amy Morrison of Elgin, and Captain Evan Morrison, US Navy (wife, Lynn; and her son, Colin) of Fallon, NV; grandsons, Evan Louis Morrison, Jr. and Joshua Dwight Morrison; and their mother, Caryn Morrison of Virginia Beach, VA; sisters, Lila Brooks of Claremore, OK, Louada Watts of Knollwood, TX, and Phyllis Marie (husband, Mike) of San Antonio, TX; brother, Jim Morrison (wife, Mary) of Weatherford, OK; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation and Funeral Ceremony: Family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. on Saturday, June 5, 2021 at Cherry Hills Church, 2125 Woodside Rd., Springfield. A Funeral Ceremony will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Brian Schwarberg officiating. Private burial will be held at a later date at Chatham Memorial Cemetery.
Cremation will be provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center following ceremonies.
