

E. Janette Spengler, 89, of Springfield, died at 5:50 a.m. Saturday, June 3, 2006 in Springfield. Janette was born May 29, 1917 in Williamsville, the daughter of Jay and Ula Trees Letterest. She married Ken E. Spengler on June 10, 1938 in Peoria; he preceded her in death in 1995. Janette was a homemaker. She was a member of Illini Country Club and the Mary A. Lawrence Circle of King’s Daughters. She belonged to First United Methodist Church. Janette enjoyed bridge, cooking, especially deserts, flower gardening, and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by one son: Phil (wife, Polly) Spengler of Springfield; four grandchildren: Gail Neely of Springfield, Lisa Spengler of San Francisco, CA, Molly (husband, Peter) Prekeges of Hailey, ID and Jay (wife, Sangetta) Spengler of Tampa, FL; six great-grandchildren: Cassidy and Payton Neely of Springfield, George and Faye Prekeges of Hailey, ID and Ajmeer and Adan Spengler of Tampa, FL; and one sister: Eloise Letterest of Springfield. Cremation was accorded by the Cremation Tribute Center, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. A Memorial Gathering will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 7, 2006 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home. Private Graveside Memorial Ceremonies will be at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
