

Earl Cook, 97, of Taylorville, passed away on Tuesday, June 17, 2014. Earl was born on June 4, 1917, in Springfield, the son of Thomas and Edna (Robertson) Cook. Earl proudly served our country as a Gunner 1st Mate in the Navy during WWII. He would later serve as a Commander of VFW Post #755. Earl married Goldie Phillips, Dorothy Anders, and Vesta Richards, all of whom preceded him in death. Earl worked for Fiat-Allis, Wolfson’s Furniture Store, and then for Local Laborers 477 until he retired. Outside of work he enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, and gardening. Earl was a member of Grace Memorial Church in Edinburg.
Earl is survived by his daughters; Mary Clemons of Peoria, Delores Cook Anthony of Springfield, sons: John (Peggy) Cook of Salisbury, Steve (Pat) Cook of Rochester, Fred (Donna) Cook and Danny (Paula) Cook of Springfield, step-daughter Sandy (Larry) Myers of Springfield, 18 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, brothers; Harold (Linda) Cook of Thayer, William Cook of Springfield, sisters: Mary Delaney of Des Plaines, Dorothy Huffman of Sorento, and Evelyn Cook of Springfield, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Earl was also preceded in death by 3 sisters: Susan Cook, Myrtle Hibbs, and Marjean Cisco, 3 brothers: Floyd, Charles “Pete”, and John “Jack” Cook.
Bisch & Son Funeral Home, 505 E Allen St Springfield, IL, 62703, is in charge of arrangements where a funeral service officiated by Rev. Ken Lawson will be held on Monday, June 23, 2014, at 12:30 pm. The family will receive friends from 10 am until the time of service. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Land of Lincoln Honor Flight.
