Edith Lora Chavis

Edith Lora Rollins Chavis, 101, of Marion, formerly of Springfield, went home with her Heavenly Father at 4:08 p.m. on January 18, 2015. Edith was born on September 26, 1913, in Carrier Mills, IL, the daughter of the late Henry and Lenora Taborn-Rollins. Edith was the oldest of 3 children Iona R. Rollins-Davis and Chester G. Rollins her siblings preceded her in death. She married Nelson Durell Chavis, unto them 1 child was born Loreba Lora Chavis Work, she also preceded Edith in death.

Edith is survived by her grandchildren: John D. Work Jr., Russell Chavis Work, and her namesake Edith L. Work Moore, great grandchildren: Amy L. Shy (Charles), Lisa R. Rogers (Nicarlo), Rodney J. Moore Jr. (Muriel), and namesake Lora L. Young (De Marquis), her great-great-grandchildren: Charles L. Shy Jr., Mishael N. Rogers, Gabriel A. Shy, Mariah L. Moore, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Edith lived a beautiful life, may she rest in peace, love you always Mom Chavis.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Bisch & Son Funeral Home, 505 E Allen St. Springfield, IL 62703; the family will receive guests at the funeral home on Thursday, January 29, 2015 from 9 a.m. until the time of her funeral service at 10 a.m. Pastor T. Ray McJunkins will conduct the service. Edith will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
