Elizabeth "Beth" Ann Cartwright

Beth was born December 1, 1952, in Springfield, the daughter of John D. and Dorothy J. Kilver Rachford, Sr. She married Leland C. Cartwright on June 5, 1993, in Chatham; he preceded her in death on November 27, 2001.

Beth graduated from Ursuline Academy in 1970 and attended Lincoln Land Community College and Sangamon State University. She was employed as a teaching assistant for District 186 until her retirement in 2018 and volunteered with Meals on Wheels. Beth was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and loved going on trips, watching Hallmark movies, and spending time with her nieces, nephews and friends.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; brother, John Doyle Rachford, Jr.; and nephews, Kelly, Philip and Chris Rachford, and Gabriel Goldsberry.

Beth is survived by her siblings, Mike (Linda) Rachford of Town & Country, MO, Dan (JoAnn) Rachford, Kevin Rachford, Tim Rachford, and Hugh Rachford, all of Springfield; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Mass: 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 6, 2021, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1345 N. 6th St., Springfield with Rev. Manuel P. Cuizon, C.R.S., celebrant. Due to COVID restrictions, there will be limited capacity.

A private burial will be held at Calvary Cemetery.
