Elizabeth was born on July 8, 1986, in Springfield, IL, the daughter of Edward and Lisa (Matheis) Hafer.
Elizabeth “Liz” was a 2004 graduate of Springfield Southeast High School and attended Lincoln Land Community College. She went to Koke Mill Christian Church. She loved attending sporting events, especially St. Louis Cardinal games, going to the lake, relaxing, reading James Patterson books, shopping, watching ID TV, and anything T-Rex or Batman. Liz loved spending time with family and friends, especially during the holidays. She enjoyed her Dad’s mac and cheese, Cozy Dog, and PLAIN cheeseburgers with french fries and ketchup on the side. Liz possessed a rare gift for connecting with children, who were always drawn to her warmth and kindness. She also loved music and enjoyed supporting local artists. Liz brought joy everywhere she went with her beautiful smile and quick wit. She lived her life treating others as she would want to be treated.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her grandparents, William and Vera Hafer and John and Frances Matheis; and her uncle, Bill Hafer.
Elizabeth is survived by her parents, Edward and Lisa; siblings, Noah (Laurie) Hafer of Thornton, CO and Katie (Josh) Branham of Divernon, IL; nephew, Mac Hafer; niece, Hunter Hafer; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
