

Ellis E. Bergmann, 73, of Springfield, departed this life on July 27, 2012, at his home surrounded by his family, after a three year courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Ellis was born at his childhood home on March 1, 1939 in rural Loogootee, IL, the son of Edd and Ella (Henrichsmeyer) Bergmann. He married Patricia L. Zindars on January 23, 1980 in Las Vegas, NV. Ellis worked as a farmer for most of his life, and also worked for the Secretary of State from 1958 until his retirement in 1991. He enjoyed farming, travelling, spending time at his home at Lake of the Ozarks, and was an avid Illini basketball fan. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Bergmann of Springfield; six children, Tammy (Bob) Wharton of Loami, Pamela (Bob) Crouch of Springfield, Tammy (Rick) Davis of Springfield, Brian (Jan) Bergmann of Springfield, LeeAnn Bergmann of Springfield, Joe Bergmann of Springfield; seven grandchildren, Joe and Jake Bartnick of Loami, Erika, Kyle, Blake, Mitch, and Emilee Bergmann, all of Springfield; two sisters; one brother; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and his Jack Russell Terrier, Ginger. Cremation was accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies. Memorial Gathering: Family will greet friends from 2:00 4:45 p.m. on Saturday, August 4, 2012 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th Street, Springfield, followed by a Memorial Service at 5:00 p.m. with Pastor Stan Summers officiating.
