

Elsie Louise Ace Hinds, 92, of Chatham, passed away peacefully, Thursday, March 10, 2016 at her home, Villas of South Park. She was born December 14, 1923, in Troy, IL, to George and Bernice (Paust) Wilhelm. She married William R. Hinds, January 19, 1947 in Virginia, IL. Her husband preceded her in death on October 25, 1976. Her son, Sherwood N. Hinds and siblings, Marian Harris and Nelson Wilhelm also preceded her in death.Elsie graduated from Edwardsville public schools and went on to graduate from St. Johns School of Nursing in 1945. She enlisted in the Army Nurse Corps during World War II. Elsie joined the staff at Springfield Clinic in 1947 where she worked in the OB/GYN department until retirement in the mid-1980s. She also owned her own business as a consultant for Mary Kay Cosmetics from 1978 until 2011. Elsie was a member of Chatham United Methodist Church where she was an usher for many years. She will be greatly missed by her daughter Barbara (Halbert) Workman, Chatham, IL; son William Gregg (Tammy) Hinds, New Berlin, IL; grandchildren, Heath(Amanda) Workman of Springfield, Travis (Jill) Workman of Pawnee, Chad (Amanda) Workman of Chatham, Matthew (Honie) Hinds of Springfield, Amy Hinds of Springfield; great grandchildren, Hayden Howard, Cole Workman, Ali Workman, Jenna Workman, Seeley Workman, Elijah Forshee, Lane Forshee, Travis Malone; sister, Elden Romine of Saybrook, Connecticut; two sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law. Visitation: 10:00am until the time of the Funeral Ceremony at noon, Monday, March 14, at Staab Polk Memorial Home, 8855 State Route 4, Chatham, Illinois, 62629, with Reverend Sara Isbell officiating. Cremation rites will be accorded by Cremation Services of Central Illinois, Chatham, after services. Memorial contributions Chatham United Methodist Church, 104 West Chestnut Street, Chatham, Illinois or to the charity of donors choice.
