Elvira "Vera" Pisani

Elvira “Vera” Pisani, 81, of Springfield died at 7:50 p.m. Thursday, December 1, 2005 at St. Joseph’s Home. Vera was born April 6, 1924 in Lucca, Italy the daughter of Luigi and Milena Santori Giannini. She married Lido J. Pisani on November 21, 1949 in Lucca, Italy. Mrs. Pisani was a charter member of Christ the King Catholic Church. She was a member of the Legion of Mary, Christ the King Arts and Crafts Club, St. Joseph Coterie, Springfield Ceramic and Craft Club, the Over Fifty Club, the Altar and Rosary Society, the Prayer Line and the St. Louise de Marillac Guild. Vera volunteered every week as a rosary lady saying the rosary and bringing rosaries to area nursing homes for over 25 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother: John Giannini and sister: Lisetta Giannini. She is survived by husband: Lido J. Pisani of Springfield; three sons: Louis (wife, Ann) Pisani of Overland Park, KS, Frank (wife, Jan) Pisani of New Berlin and Joseph (wife, Jody) Pisani of Auburn; three daughters: Paula (husband, Michael) Furst of Lake Barrington, IL, Nancy (husband, Jim) Doglio of Mentor, OH and Mary (husband, Steve) Contri of Springfield; nine grandchildren: Kim, Tony and Jon Doglio, Corri, Paul, Milena and John Pisani, Jack Contri and Val Contri; six step grandchildren; two sisters: Giovanna Paoli and Amelia Giannini both of Lucca, Italy; two brothers: Girolamo (wife, Giovanna) Giannini of Lucca, Italy and Joseph (wife, Marisa) Giannini of St. John, IN and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Family will receive friends from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Sunday, December 4, 2005 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 5, 2005 at Christ the King Catholic Church, 1930 Barberry Dr., Springfield, IL 62704 with Rev. Msgr. David S. Lantz celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph’s Home, 3306 S. 6th St. Rd., Springfield, IL 62703.
