Emery Renée Barnes, beloved daughter of Kelsey Renée Darlington and Daniel Washington Barnes, was born into the arms of Jesus on November 20, 2025, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, Illinois, at 29 weeks.
From the moment her family knew about her, Emery was deeply loved and cherished. She was especially active when her mom would eat chocolate, kicking with so much energy that it made everyone smile. She often had hiccups that her mom says felt like little gas bubbles—tiny reminders that she was there, growing and moving, already a precious part of the family.
Emery is lovingly survived by her parents, Kelsey and Daniel; big brother, 2-year-old Jensen Daniel Barnes; maternal grandparents, Michael and Diane Darlington; and paternal grandparents, Irma Miramontes and Dennis Barnes. Though her time on earth was brief, her impact on the hearts of those who love her is immeasurable.
Her family holds close the promise: “You are deeply loved, and we will see you again.”
A poem chosen by her family reflects their hope and comfort:
So go and run free with the angels
Dance around the golden clouds
For the lord has chosen you to be with him
And we should feel nothing but proud
Although he has taken you from us
And our pain a lifetime will last
Your memory will never escape us
But make us glad for the time we did have
Your face will always be hidden
Deep inside our hearts
Each precious moment you gave us
Shall never, ever depart
So go and run free with the angels
As they sing so tenderly
And please be sure to tell them
To take good care of you for me
Forever loved, never forgotten, Emery will always live in the hearts of her family until they meet again.
