

Evelyn was born March 3, 1915 in Union Township, IL, the daughter of Guy E. and Bertha Hutton Walters. She married Richard R. Grummon on February 1, 1942 in Springfield, IL; he preceded her in death on May 22, 2005.
Evelyn graduated from Casey High School in 1933 and earned her associates degree from Eastern Illinois University. She was employed with the State of Illinois Department of Agriculture in their Poultry Division. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, where she did various volunteer work. She was also a member of P.E.O. for 65 years and a member of the Springfield Garden Club. Evelyn volunteered at Lincoln Memorial Garden and loved nature. She was a superb gardener, enjoyed sewing, and loved caring for her home and family.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and son, Timothy W. Grummon.
She is survived by her son, Dr. Stephen R. (wife, Corrie) Grummon of Springfield, VA; daughter, Rebecca "Becky" J. Grummon of Springfield, IL; grandchildren, Geoffrey R. (wife, Juliette) Grummon-Beale of Portland, OR, Katherine (husband, Andrew) Zapotocnzy of Evergreen, CO, and Caroline (husband, Brian) Lee of Denver, CO; four great-grandchildren; three nieces; and two nephews.
Cremation was accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center.
Memorial Gathering and Funeral Ceremony: Family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at First United Methodist Church, 2941 S. Koke Mill Rd, Springfield. Funeral Ceremony will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Mike Whitaker officiating.
Private family burial will be at Stout Cemetery.
