

Evelyn Tobin, 86, of Springfield died at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, February 26, 2004 at St. John’s Hospice. Evelyn was born October 19, 1917 in Springfield, the daughter of Ray and Mary Corrigan Colburn. She married William Tobin on August 4, 1945 at Blessed Sacrament Church. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, also by Oscar Hellner, stepfather and Edward Hellner, stepbrother. Mrs. Tobin graduated from Ursuline Academy. She worked for IL Bell Telephone Company for 15 years, retiring from the Federal Government after 20 years. She is survived by her husband, William Tobin of Springfield, three daughters: Janis (husband, Charles) Pennell of Springfield, Susan (husband, Ralph) Ray of Decatur, Debra Tobin of Springfield; two sons: William “Bill” Tobin of Bedford, TX, Timothy Tobin of Kansas City, MO; one sister: Mary (husband, Richard) Tumulty of Valencia, CA; eight grandchildren; five great grandchildren; five nephews and two nieces. A Memorial Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 2, 2004 at St. Agnes Catholic Church with Rev. Peter C. Harman celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of Illinois, Inc., 2411 New Street, Blue Island, IL 60406-2328. The family of Evelyn Tobin is being served by Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home and Cremation Tribute Center , 900 S. 6th St. Springfield.
