Evelyn Louise Wilson

Evelyn was born June 14, 1927, in Fort Wayne, IN, the daughter of William L. and Nellie L. Austin Leeds. She married William J. Corcoran on January 27, 1951. He preceded her in death on November 22, 1967. She married Darrell Raymond Wilson on May 25, 1973, in Davenport, IA.

Evelyn graduated from St. Scholastica Academy in Chicago in 1945 and attended the Art Institute of Chicago, Drake University in Des Moines, IA, and St. Ambrose University in Davenport, IA obtaining a B.F.A. Through the years she taught art while raising her family. Her dream job was working for SIU School of Medicine as a graphic designer. Evelyn was a member of Hope Presbyterian Church, Women of Hope, PEO Chapter HU, AAUW, Prairie Art Alliance, and Sangamon County Watercolor Society. Evelyn enjoyed artwork, volunteering, teaching, playing bridge, and playing golf.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, William J. Corcoran; sister, Lois E. Hutchinson; and grandchildren, Sean Corcoran and David Verstraete.

Evelyn is survived by her husband, Darrell Wilson of Springfield; children, Daryl Lyn (Gary) Verstraete of Independence, MO, Colleen (John, deceased) Bussen of St. Peters, MO, Jeffrey R. (Karin) Wilson of Durango, CO, Steven (Patricia) Corcoran of Springfield, Gregory L. (Sheri) Wilson of Petersburg, Gary Corcoran of St. Charles, MO, Anne Corcoran of Springfield, Brian Corcoran of Springfield, and Brian M. (Teresa) Wilson of St. Peters, MO; seventeen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; brother, William Leeds of The Villages, FL; and brother-in-law, Robert Corcoran of Richmond, VA.

A private family burial will be held at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
