

Frances Dorothy Bayles, 90, of Springfield, IL passed away Tuesday morning November 20, 2012 at Lewis Memorial Christian Village in Springfield. The last surviving of eight children, Frances was born September 28, 1922 to Hugo and Mary (Furtado) Baptist.
A graduate of Feitshans High School, Frances worked as a bookkeeper for Roland’s clothing store for over 25 years, and after her retirement, worked part-time at the Marine Bank.
Frances married Eugene Bayles in August 1947 at Asbury Methodist Church. She had four children, William “Bill” Granville, Debra Kay, Janette Kay, and Bradley Eugene.
Frances had the distinction of being one of the first babies on the Cradle Roll of Asbury Methodist Church, and she was a devoted member of Asbury throughout her life. She was a fifty-year member of the Springfield Chapter of the Eastern Star. Frances enjoyed working crossword puzzles, traveling and spending time with her grandchildren. She traveled abroad more than ten times to places ranging from Rio de Janeiro to Israel and the Madeira Islands, from which her parents immigrated at the turn of the century.
Frances is survived by two children, Janette K. Bayles of Oak Park, IL and Bradley Eugene (and wife Jean) Bayles of Springfield; four grandchildren, Melanie Belle McLaughlin, Kaylee Francine Bayles, Bradley William Bayles, and Patrick Heinen; and one great-granddaughter, Madison Belle.
Frances was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Eugene, an infant daughter Debra, her son Bill, and 7 siblings.
Services are under the direction of Bisch and Son Funeral Home, 505 E. Allen, Springfield, where visitation will be held on Sunday, November 25, 2012 from 4 to 7 pm. Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 26, 2012 at 9:30 am at the funeral home, with Rev. Bill Burton officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield.
