Frances Nichols Fielden, 85, of Virden, formerly of Springfield, passed away Thursday, February 17, 2011 at her residence. Frances was born September 4, 1925 in Athens, IL, the daughter of Harold and Elizabeth Black Nichols. She married Kelsie Fielden and he preceded her in death. Frances retired from the International Shoe Company in Springfield, IL when it closed after 25 years of service. Her most unusual accomplishment was to return to Springfield High School in Springfield, IL as a student after her retirement. This daring task was completed in her 40s with her receiving her diploma with 18 year olds. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Betty Nichols Hennessey and nephew, Michael Wesley Wainscott. She is survived by her sister, Bonnie L. (husband, Larry) Wainscott of Virden; niece, Deborah Sue (partner, Vicki Bough) Wainscott; great-niece, Elizabeth (Ken Bolton) Wainscott; and great great-nephew, Braden Bolton. Family will receive friends from 10:30 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. A funeral ceremony will follow at 11:00. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
