

Frances G. Wasser, 85, of Springfield, formerly of Washington D.C. died at 1:30 p.m. Monday, May 05, 2003 at The Regency. Frances was born June 3, 1917 in Washington, D.C. the daughter of Solomon and Gertrude Blendman Goldman. She married Simon R. Wasser February 25, 1945 in Washington D.C.; he preceded her in death May 7, 1996. Mrs. Wasser was a 1934 graduate of McKinley Technical High School, Washington D.C. and a graduate of Washington School for Secretaries. She was employed as an executive secretary for the District of Columbia Government Board of Public Welfare, Public Assistance Division until 1947. In 1958 she went to work for the Federal Government, General Services Administration. In 1972 she began working for the Federal Government, Cost of Living Council, Office of the President until 1974 when she returned to General Services Administration for the Federal Government where she retired February 29, 1980. She was a recipient of the Administrator’s Commendable Service Award in June 1979 and a recipient of the Administrator’s Exceptional Service Award in February 1980. She was a member of Adas-Israel Congregation and a former member of Sisterhood Adas-Israel Congregation in Washington D.C. She moved to Springfield June 18, 1996 and became a member of Hadassah-Springfield Chapter, Springfield Jewish Federation and Temple Israel of Springfield. She is survived by one son: Stanley N. (wife, Mary Jo) Wasser of Springfield; one daughter: Sherry (husband, Wayne) Richards of Bartlett, IL, four grandchildren: Michael Simon Price Wasser and David Nathaniel Wasser of Springfield, Natalie Grace and Zachary Aaron Richards of Bartlett, IL; two brothers: Dr. Leon (wife, Angela) Goldman of Nanuet, NY, Dr. Irving M. (wife, Sheila) Goldman of South Burlington, VT; one uncle: Joseph Muchnick of Rockville, MD and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Family will receive friends from 12:30-2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 8, 2003 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday May 8, 2003 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home with Rabbi Barry Marks officiating. Burial will be in Adas Israel Cemetery in Washington D.C. Memorial contributions may be made to Springfield Jewish Federation (Simon R. Wasser Endowment Fund) 2815 Old Jacksonville Rd., Springfield, IL 62704. The family of Frances G.
