Francine D. (Pool) Elder, age 87, of Springfield, passed away on Saturday morning, January 20th, 2024 at Lewis Memorial Christian Village where she had been a resident the last 7 months following a stroke.
She was born December 12th, 1936 in Dundas, Illinois to Frank and Minerva (Curry) Pool. She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband of 61 years, Darrell, and an infant son Randy Kevin Elder. Mrs. Elder is survived by three sons: Darin (Mary Ann) Elder of Tuscola Ill., Kevin (Heather) Elder of Peoria Ill., Brennan (Brenda) Elder of Seattle WA., five grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
Francine was very devoted to her family and balanced this with her career as an educator, retiring from Springfield Public Schools. She loved to travel and was an awesome cook and hostess. Francine was a strong Christian and served in many capacities at her beloved West Side Christian Church. She was an avid reader, genealogist, and card player. She had many friends in several states and enjoyed staying connected with them. Her kindness and generosity will be missed by many.
Arrangements are under the direction of Bisch Funeral Home West, Springfield. Visitation will be at 11:00 AM and the service will be held at Noon at West Side Christian Church in Springfield, Illinois on Friday, January 26th.
Interment will be at Greenhill Cemetery in Sullivan, Illinois.
