On Monday, March 6, 2023, Frank Peter Albanese, son, brother, and friend of many, passed away at the age of 57 at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Frank was born on October 8, 1965 in Springfield, Illinois to Peter and Paula Albanese of Springfield, IL. While praying with family and a priest at his bedside, he passed peacefully, which was a testament to his strong faith in God.
Frank attended Little Flower Grade School and was a 1983 graduate of Griffin High School. In 1988, he graduated with a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in Economics and Finance from DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois. Always the adventurer, during college he traveled to Russia for an international debate as part of the DePaul University debate team. Over the years he also completed various continuing education courses from Cornell University’s hospitality program.
Frank’s passion was the stock market, working in the markets for over 30 years. He began his career in Chicago working for Mercantile Exchange and subsequently as a broker for firms such as, Merrill Lynch and Lehman Brothers. After returning to Springfield, he worked for Albanese Development Corporation and founded ATIA Wealth Management Group, which provides investment advisory services. He completed his career as the Principal and Chief Investment Officer of ATIA. Frank held the series 7, 24, 63 and 66 securities licenses, as well as being a licensed insurance agent. Frank’s continued side project was hotelbrokers.com, an online portal to match buyers and sellers of hotels worldwide, a project dedicated to the memory of his father.
Frank will be forever remembered for his: fun loving personality, spontaneity, sense of humor, and generosity. During the week you would find him glued to his stock trading screens or Bloomberg TV, but in his spare time, he enjoyed cycling, traveling, scuba diving, adventure sports, and spending time with his friends and family, usually over a gourmet meal.
Frank is survived by his mother, Paula Albanese; Brother Dennis (wife Sarah) Albanese and their children, Christopher, Michael, Jillian; Sister Lily (husband Michael) Layden; Brother Peter A. Albanese, all of Springfield, IL. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins in both the United States and Sicily. He was preceded in death by his father, Peter Albanese in 1999.
A church visitation will be held on March 18, 2023 from 10am-12pm at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 245 North Amos, followed by a funeral mass at 12:00pm and burial at Calvary Cemetery. A reception with food and drinks for a celebration of life will be held at 2pm at Indigo restaurant.
Memorial donations in memory of Frank can be made to Simmons Cancer Institute, Sacred Heart-Griffin Scholarship Fund or the International Health & Development Network.
