Frank J. McManus

Frank J. McManus, 82, of Girard, formerly of Springfield, died at 9:40 a.m. Friday, July 16, 2004 at Pleasant Hill Nursing Home in Girard. Frank was born October 31, 1921 in East St. Louis, IL the son of Frank and Hortense Aubucheon McManus. He married Helen Nicholson, August 30, 1942 in St. Charles, MO. Mr. McManus was employed by Illinois Bell as District Engineering Manager; retiring in 1976 after 35 ½ years service. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, G. Patrick McManus and two brothers, William and Leonard McManus, and one great granddaughter, Jennifer Horton. He is survived by his wife: Helen McManus of Girard; one daughter: Florence Blakeman of Riverton; eight grandchildren: Jim Clarke, Rob Clarke, Marianne Jolley, Sheila Horton, Ray Clevenger, Mike McManus, Rebecca McCarthy, Kyle Blakeman; several great grandchildren; one sister: Lorraine Leggett of Springfield and several nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 20, 2004 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield. Funeral services will be at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 20, 2004 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Slaatte officiating. Burial will be at Camp Butler National Cemetery where the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County will conduct military honors.
