
Frank T. Tapocik, 81, of Springfield, died at 3:39 p.m. Saturday, November 17, 2001 at his residence on his 81st birthday. Frank was born November 17, 1920, the son of Joseph and Amelia Bestudik Tapocik. He Married Hazel Ratay on July 27, 1944 at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Omaha, Nebraska. She preceded him in death on April 14, 2000. Frank attended both, the Cathedral Boys High School and St. James Trade School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II. He Started working for Fiat Allis on February 1, 1938 in the welding department and retired on October 31, 1982 after 42 years of service. Mr. Tapocik was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church and St. Aloysius Elders Tree, a member of Knights of Columbus Council #364 and Knights of Columbus Senior Club, a member of Fiat-Allis Salaried Retirees Inc., Mr. Tapocik had recieved the 2001 Fiat Allis Retirees, Retiree of the Year, he was also a member of Joes' Slovak Club of Lincoln Land and a Volunteer for St. John's Breadline. He was also preceded in death by, two brothers, Joseph and Bernard Tapocik; two sisters, Agnes M. Tapocik and Agnes C. Howell. Mr. Tapocik is survived by a son, Thomas J. (Kris)Tapocik of Springfield; Three daughters, Marjorie (Walter) Schwager of Sherman, Kathryn (Larry) Gerbhardt and Patricia Tapocik both of Springfield; two grandsons, Frank James ''Jimmy'' Tapocik of Springfield and Gregory (wife, Tina) Schwager of Raleigh, NC; two granddaughters, Julie Schwager-Garcia of Springfield and Mary Elizabeth (Mary Beth) Tapocik of Springfield; One great grandson, C.J. Garcia; four sisters, Sr. M. Anita Tapocik O.P. of Rantoul, Dorothy (husband, N.J.) Mohr of Cathedral City CA, Mary Stankavich of Stanton, CA and Margaret ''Bobbie'' (husband, Robert) Doan of Yorba Linda, California; two brothers, Paul Tapocik of Springfield and John (wife, Claudette) Tapocik of Riverside, California; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. friends may call at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home from 4-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 21, 2001 with a wake service at 4:00 p.m. Concelebrated Funeral Mass will be at. 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 22, 2001 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church with the Rev. John Titus as the principal celebrant. Burial will follow in Camp Butler National Cemetery, where the Interveterans Burial will conduct services.
