

Franklin Louis 'Frank' Gorbett, 79, of Springfield, died at 5:20 p.m. August 3, 2003 at St. John’s Hospice. Frank was born February 2, 1924 in Springfield the son of Frank and Hila Dyer Gorbett. He married Dimple Winters February 21, 1959 in Springfield; she preceded him in death January 13, 1993. Mr. Gorbett was employed by Capitol Waste Systems, Inc. as a Sanitation Engineer where he retired after 45 years. He also worked for the Springfield Housing Authority for 10 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during WWII. He was a member of AMVETS and American Legion Post in Jasonville, IN. He enjoyed dancing and fishing, playing card and the Opry. He was also preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and three sisters. He is survived by three sons: Eddie (wife, Pam) Gorbett of Springfield, Brian (wife, Stacy) Gorbett of Chatham, Waco (wife, Rhonda) Wyatt of Illiopolis; four daughters: Linda (husband, Mike) Gorby of Jasonville, IN, Sheryl (husband, Eric) Neef of St. Peters, MO, Diane (husband, Paul) Pershing of Springfield, Twila (husband, Steve) Cline-Farmer of Springfield; eighteen grandchildren; twenty-six great grandchildren and companion: Denzel Mudd. Friends may call at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral home from 5-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 6, 2003. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 7, 2003 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home with Reverend Harold Monroe officiating.
