Fred W. Brinkman

Fred W. "Todd" Brinkman, 75, of Springfield and Naples, FL, passed away at 5:40 p.m. on Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at Naples Community Hospital. Todd was born September 27, 1935 in Springfield, the son of Fred and Martha Baughman Brinkman. He married DeLee Niemi and she preceded him in death. Todd was a graduate of Springfield High School and Illinois Wesleyan University where he majored in mathematics and physics. He went on to establish B&B Electric in 1962 and retired in 1991. Todd belonged to Royal Palm Country Club and the National Electrical Contractors Association. He enjoyed spending time with his family, boat racing, golf, traveling, playing cards with his friends and listening to his books on tape. Todd was also preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by two sons, Todd (wife, Diane) Brinkman of Springfield, Tom (wife, Ronda) Brinkman of Chatham; two daughters, Tammy (husband, Howard) Hilby of Chatham and Cheryl (husband, Todd) Zoellner of Springfield; nine grandchildren, Tim (wife, Ashleigh) and Kristin Brinkman, Matt and Danny Hilby, Nathan Zoellner, and Tyler, Bailee, Brady and Rylee Brinkman; great-grandchild, Cameron Brinkman; and Karen Watts of Springfield and her children, Lisa (husband, Dennis) Wright, Lynnette (husband, Jeff) Hindman and Andy (wife, Lisa) Watts; her grandchildren, Alec and Lauren Hindman and Alex and Madison Watts; brother-in-law, Tom (wife, Marge) Niemi of Grayslake; and nieces Lynn and Dana. Family will receive friends from 3:00-6:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 23, 2011 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. A funeral ceremony will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 24, 2011 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Chatham Cemetery.
