

Frederick Lee Gleason, 77, of Springfield, died at 7:27 p.m. on Saturday, August 16, 2014 at Memorial Medical Center. Fred was born October 19, 1936 in Petersburg, the son of Thomas Edward and Anna May Hohimer Gleason. He married Mary Lou Cleaver on April 13, 1997 in Las Vegas, NV. Fred was a graduate of Petersburg Harris High School and was employed with the Secretary of State for 25 years as a microfilm retrieval clerk. He was a league bowler at King Pin Lanes as a part of the Kidtalk team. He enjoyed traveling, playing bingo, going to the casino and to the movies, watching Giants baseball, and was an avid Green Bay Packers fan. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Patricia Peyton; and brother, William Gleason. Fred is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Gleason of Springfield; children, Allan (wife, Chris) Gleason of Ashland, Rick (wife, Terri) Gleason of Pleasant Plains, and Micheal Gleason of Petersburg, Cindy (husband, Tom) Fitzgerald of Springfield, and Gary Rowland of Springfield; seven grandchildren, Heather, Andrew, Samantha, Adam and Tristen Gleason and Keifer and Regan Fitzgerald; and three siblings, Paul (wife, Joanna) Gleason of Petersburg, Ruth (husband, Harry) Otto of Petersburg, and Betty Jean (husband, John) Guttmann of Ashland. Cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center following the visitation. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00-6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Funeral Ceremony: 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 21, 2014 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home with Pastor Bennie Fisher officiating.
