Freda J. Burg

Freda was born on June 17, 1934, in Springfield, the daughter of Carl and Geraldine (McGillick) Kraus. She married Louis E. Burg on September 10, 1955, in Springfield. He preceded her in death on March 8, 2000.

She graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in 1952. Freda was a homemaker for 17 years while raising her children. She then became a secretary at the Springfield Public Building Commission. Freda was a member of St. Louise de Marillac and St. Joseph’s Home Coterie. She enjoyed baking, family, friends, and cocktails.

Freda was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Karl Kraus; and sister, Mary Holmes.

She is survived by her daughters, Sally (Phil) Meno of Naperville and Karey Wanless of Springfield; son, Steve (Sue) Burg of Springfield; grandchildren, Louie, Nick (Amanda), Jamie (Matt), Tony, Corey (Kim), Bryan (Abbey), Baley, Hunter, and Kaylee; great-grandchildren, Kinleigh, Kamryn, and Averey; sister, Kathy (Steve) Williams of Hot Springs, AR; and sister-in-law, Theresa Kraus of Springfield.

Due to COVID, a private burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery.
