

Frederick J. "Fred" Brent, 92, of Springfield, passed away Friday February 18, 2011 at his home, Concordia Village in Springfield.
Fred was born in Gelsenkirchen, Germany, November 7, 1918 the son of August and Anna Masonic Bojarzin. He immigrated to the United States with his family in 1923. He married Ruth M. Kendall February 29, 1940 and she preceded him in death April 3, 2003. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, his brother, and two sisters.
Fred was a carpenter by trade, and worked at Egizi Electric retiring in 1985. He was a member of the Carpenters Local # 16. He was a true craftsman. He enjoyed building grandfather clocks for his family members, and road cases for professional lighting. Fred also enjoyed fishing.
He was a longtime member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Springfield where he served on many boards and committees including the Board of Directors, and the Board of Property Management.
Surviving are his son, David (wife Mary Lou) Brent of Springfield, his daughter, Sharon (husband Kevin) Steidley of Peoria, IL, four grandchildren; Mark (wife Jonelle) Brent, Susan (husband Rob) Pappas, Tamera (husband Willie) Baker and Rebecca Allison, as well as 12 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are under the direction of Bisch Funeral Home West 2931 S. Koke Mill Rd. where visitation will be Wednesday February 23, 2011 from 4-7 pm and where funeral services will be at 10:00 am Thursday February 24, 2011 with Rev. Dr. Thomas G. Radtke officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
