

He was born April 12, 1952 in East St. Louis the son of Leonard “Earl” and Nancy Smyser Woodyard. He was preceded in death by his parents.
He was a graduate of Decatur Eisenhower High School and attended Lincoln Land Community College and Lake Land Community College. He was employed throughout his lifetime at Shell gas stations and was an Automotive Technician at the Springfield Police Department. He was a tenured computer instructor at Lincoln Land Community College, worked at CCSI as a computer programmer and in computer support and was an independent computer consultant.
Woody loved to listen to and play all types of music, built and flew remote control airplanes, enjoyed photography, was a huge Cubs, Bears and Nascar fan and built computers and created computer programs.
He is survived by his son, Jeremy Woodyard (fiancé, Krissey Pickrel) of Divernon; daughter, Robin (husband, Jon) Ackman of Virden; granddaughter, Payton Woodyard; grandsons, Preston Woodyard and Colby Ackman; brothers, James (wife, Cindy) Woodyard of Wisconsin, Dr. David (wife, Peggy) Woodyard of Ohio; sisters, Cheryl (husband, Dwain) Steinhour of Petersburg and Linda (husband, Dr. Donald) Phelps of Pennsylvania; one nephew and four nieces.
Friends may call Friday July 16, 2010 at Boardman-Smith Funeral Chapel from 4:00 PM until the time of memorial services there at 6:00 P.M.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to St. Jude’s Research Hospital.
