George L. Bechtel

George L. Bechtel, Sr., 81, of Virginia, died at 12:08 p.m. on Wednesday, November 14, 2007 at St. John’s Hospital. George was born November 13, 1926 in Springfield, the son of George and Helena Bechtel. He married Patsy Lee Crain. George was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during WWII. He was employed as a big rig driver for over 40 years. George was a life member of VFW and Amvets and a member of Teamsters Local 914. He was baptized in 1994 at New Life Baptist Church in Athens, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter: Nina Helen Bechtel and uncle: Frank Hill. He is survived by his wife: Patsy Lee Bechtel of Virginia, IL; five sons: George L. Bechtel, Jr. of Texas, Jerry William Bechtel of Texas, Cloyd Lee (wife, Sherrie) Bechtel of Morrisonville, IL, George L. (wife, Charlene) Bechtel, Jr. III and Aaron B. (wife, Kim) Bechtel of Sherman, IL; one daughter: Nina Lee (husband, David) Montgomery of Petersburg, IL; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. Cremation accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center. Memorial Ceremonies will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 17, 2007 at Living Faith Baptist Church, 7575 West Outer Rd., Sherman with Pastor Mark Emerson officiating.
