

George Eugene Davidson, 85, of The Villages, Florida, passed away on February 21, 2023. He was born to parents David and Ethel Davidson, on January 18, 1938, in Mattoon, Illinois and was the eldest of 5 children.
He graduated from Bradley-Bourbonnais High School, Bradley, Illinois in 1955 where he was a star baseball pitcher.
Gene went on to study math at Olivet Nazarene College and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree.
Gene was a founder of Alexander Hamilton Life Insurance Company and later in his career was Human Resources Senior Vice President for Bank of America.
He met Sally Milby in 1956. They were married in 1959 in Springfield, Illinois. He was a loving father to three children: John, Brad, and Anne.
Gene is survived by wife, Sally; children, John (Julio) Davidson of Bellevue, Washington, Brad Davidson of Leesburg, Florida, and Anne Smith (Tom) of Franklin, Tennessee. Gene is also survived by 5 grandchildren, Hannah, Erica, Reid, Sara, and Emma Rose.
Gene was a man of integrity and a follower of Jesus. Dad’s favorite verse was Proverbs 3: 5-6:
Trust in the LORD with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight.
And that is how he lived his life.
Private family ceremonies were held.
The family is being served by Butler Funeral Home-Springfield, 900 S. Sixth St., Springfield.
