George Benjamin Gillespie

George B. Gillespie, 86, died peacefully on Sunday, November 17, 2013. George was a lifelong resident of Springfield. George was a talented attorney, avid reader, and a gentle, kind man who will be missed by many.

George is survived by his dear friend, Nancy Smith Gillespie of Winfield, Illinois, and his children: daughter Nancy Seward of San Francisco, son Thomas (Rowan) Gillespie of San Francisco, daughter Abigail (Aaron) Finkelstein of Chicago, and daughter Jennifer (Andrew) Mason of San Francisco. George is also survived by his brother, Robert Gillespie, grandchildren Thomas Gordon Seward, Brooke Seward, Reed Seward, Teo Gillespie, Ciel Gillespie, Eila Finkelstein, Noa Finkelstein and Sebastian Mason, nieces Francie Bunn, Sarah Moore, Allison Gillespie Romick, and nephew Andrew Bunn, as well as great-nieces and nephews. George was predeceased by his parents, Louis and Frances Gillespie, his sister Mary Gillespie Baker, his nephew George "Gibby" Bunn, and his sons Louis "Tad" Gillespie and George Benjamin "G.B." Gillespie.
