

George W. Myers, 65, of Palmyra, formerly of Springfield and Chatham, died at 11:18 p.m. on Tuesday, October 3, 2006 at St. John’s Hospital. George was born on April 20, 1941 in Springfield, the son of George W. and Annabelle Lynch Myers. He married Debra Bradley on October 1, 1984 in Springfield. He attended Blessed Sacrament Catholic Grade School and was a graduate of Chatham Glenwood High School. He then attended the University of Illinois in Champaign and Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. He attended St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Girard. He was self-employed for thirty years as a landlord of many rental properties he owned. He also owned his own farm and previously owned Myers Construction. George loved his grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with his family. He enjoyed farming, gardening and hunting. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Debra Myers of Palmyra; two sons: George Steven (wife, Sandra) Myers of Loami and Brian Michael Myers of Palmyra; four daughters: Melissa Ann (husband, Kent) VanBebber of Palmyra, Alicia (husband, Nick) Rathgeb of New Berlin, Erin (husband, Morgan) Betsinger of Palmyra and Jaime Myers of Palmyra; seven grandchildren: Anna Rathgeb, Benjamin Rathgeb, Max Rathgeb, and Jacob Rathgeb, Brandon Miller, George Dylan Lemarr and Melissa Lemarr, four step grandchildren: Sydney Betsinger and Ethan Betsinger, Derek Lemarr and Meagan Lemarr; one brother, James Myers of Springfield; one sister, Mary (husband, Larry) Robinson of Pawnee and two nieces. The family welcome friends to visit from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. on Monday, October 9, 2006 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield. Funeral Ceremonies will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, October 9, 2006 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home with Father Kothapalli Samuel, officiating. Burial will follow in Zion Cemetery in Pawnee. Memorial contributions may be made to American Lung Association of Illinois, 3000 Kelly Lane, Springfield, IL 62707. The family of George W.
