

Geraldo "Andre" MoraCruz, 33, of Killeen, TX, died on Sunday, March 15, 2015 at his home. Andre was born September 11, 1981 in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, the son of Geraldo Mora and Lydia Cruz. He married Heather Marie Klever on May 12, 2007 in Columbia, SC. Andre attended Kaplan University and proudly served his country in the United States Army, joining in 2000. He served in Afghanistan, Iraq, Korea, Japan, Germany, and throughout the United States. Andre was awarded many medals and commendations, including the Army Commendation Medal, five Army Achievement Medals, the National Defense Service Medal, the Iraq Campaign Medal with two Bronze Stars, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Korean Defense Service Medal, two Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbons, Army Service Ribbons, four Overseas Service Ribbons, the Driver and Mechanic Badge with W Bar, the Combat and Special Skill Badge, the Basic Marksmanship Qualifying Badge, the Rifle Bar, and the Overseas Service Bar. He was an avid Chicago Bears fan and enjoyed going to concerts, riding motorcycles, and was technically inclined and enjoyed electronics. He is survived by his wife, Heather Mora of Killeen, TX; three children, Elijah Mora, Julianna M. Mora, and Alexander A. Mora; his parents, Geraldo Mora and Lydia Cruz; and several brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews. Cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center following ceremonies. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Funeral Ceremony: 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 26, 2015 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home with Pastor Grant Ray officiating. Military honors provided by the Department of Defense.
